INDICATION
Anticholinesterase Organophosphorus Derivatives Or Compounds Poisoning
   
PROPERTIES        

Antidote Used In The Treatment Of Poisoning By Organophosphorus Compounds Which Inhibit
The Enzyme CholinesteraseBy Phosphorylation.
Pralidoxime Acts By Reactivating This Enzyme And Thus Restores The Enzymatic Destruction Of Acetylcholine
At The Neuromuscular Junction.

   
     

Used And Administration
 
The Solution Must Be Prepared Immediately Prior To Use By Adding 10ml Of Nacl Isotonic
Solution To The Flask Of Contrathion (As The Product Is Lyophilized , Dissolution Is Easy).
Contrathion May Be Adminisated As Follow:

1) I.V. (In Emergencies). Either Directly , Without Dilution , By Slow Injection(1 ml/mn), Or Infusion After Dilution Of The Solution
With Isotonic Glucose Or Isotonic Chloride Solution.

2) S.C, I.M. , Or Per Os , If Poisoning Does Not Need Urgent Treatment.

The First Injection Is 200 To 400 mg Of Contrathion (1 Or 2 Flask). This Does May Be Increased Up To 2g.
A Does Of Up To 400mg Should Be Maintained If Necessary.

Contrathion Is Generally Used With Atropine And During This Treamtment Pupil And Pulse
Must Be Continuously Checked

 
    FORM AND PRESENTATION    
Injectable Prepration: Box Of 10 Flask Of Lyophilisate And 10 Ampoules Of Solvent.
     
    COMPOSITION            
Pralidoxime Methylsulphate 322.5mg Is Equivaient To Pralidoxime Base 200 mg.
  PRECAUTIONS            
  Pralidoxime Must Be Adminsterd Within 24 Hours Of Poisoning To Be Fully Effective
It Has Title Effect If Treatment Is Started More Than 36 Hours After Intoxication The efflcacy Of Pralidoxime Depends On The Nature Of
Organophosphorus Insecticides. It Is Not effective In The Treatment Of Poisoning Due To Carbamates
Pesticides.
   
 
    PREGNANCY  
  As No study On Animals Or Clinical Trials On Human Beings Has Been done The Risk Is nuknown.
Consequently As a Precaution Pralidoxime Should Not Be Adminststered To Pregant Women Unless Her Is Threatened
 
    ADVERSE EFFECTS  
Double Vision, Blurred Vision , Malaise , Dizziness , Headache And Tachycardia
OVERDOSAGE      
       
      Very High Doses Of Pralidoxime Can Aggravate The Neuromuscular Block Induced By The Organophosphorus
